Class Descriptions

Make Me Move (Bubs)

This class encourages the use of fine and gross motor skills cleverly disguised through a creative class of fun games, movement, obstacle courses and music together with the use of colourful  props and costumes.

Make Me Groove - Jazz (Squirts)

A fun energetic toddler's class based on a jazz style to help teach coordination, rhythmic and movement memory skills. This class incorporates popular themes, props, costumes and familiar songs to help students appreciate the art of dance.

Make Me Smooth - Ballet (Squirts)

This class allows all those toddlers who have ever wanted to be ballerinas to come and freely explore their softer, smoother side. Based on classical technique, not only does it teach younger ones how to isolate specific body parts and move in a structured way; it also allows them freedom and fun to explore fairytale themes using costumes and props in a happy, non-serious atmosphere.

Squirts Tough - Boys Hip Hop (Squirts/Freckles)

This fun class is just for those funky boys who like their street dancing and showing off their Hip Hop skills. Combined with some funk styles and basic break-dancing tricks, it's just the thing to burn off energy without the girls!

Squirts Plus -Jazz/Tap/Ballet (Turning 5 before May)

This class allows those older Squirts to form their own class to explore a combination of tap, jazz and ballet. They will be given all the basic technique work using themes, costume and props, but will also be able to become a little more independent as they are exposed to some fun composition activities and combinations.

Jazz (Freckles/Stars/Rebels/Sisters & Brothers)

Jazz technique is similar to what you see in Broadway musicals and music videos. It is a fast-paced combination of kicks, jumps, isolations, turns and floor work. It can also include partner and character work to enhance storylines and concepts. Jazz uses lots of energy, musicality, and flexibility, and is great for getting your heart racing. Funk is an up-beat contagious style that lets you get in touch with your 'rhythmic' side. It combines elements of Jazz, and hip hop, but certainly retains its own identity as one of fun, energetic and definitely 'funky'.

Classical Ballet/Lyrical (Freckles/Stars)

Ballet technique is considered to be the underlying foundation of any dance style. Its graceful movement and style demands control, strength and a focus on alignment. Our 'open technique' classes incorporate all the elements of a traditional syllabus without the monotonous structure of exercises or exams. Lyrical combines styles of Modern and Contemporary movements together to create a smooth flowing technique.

Contemporary (Rebels/Sisters & Brothers)

One of the most popular styles today, contemporary allows you to use the foundations of ballet layered with the freedom of a modern/lyrical element on top. This captivating style incorporates strength, technique, dynamics and space to communicate expressions and concepts.

Hip Hop (Boys Only/Stars/Rebels/Sisters & Brothers)

Hip Hop refers to mainly street dance styles, primarily danced to hip hop music. It can include a wide range of styles including breaking, popping, locking, krumping  and house dance. This style will find the 'street person' in you just waiting to explode!

Mixed-Age Cheerleading (Freckles/Stars/Rebels/Sisters & Brothers)

This mixed age beginner class allows mulitple classes to come together and work as a team. Combining the basics of a Jazz and Funk technique with Pom work, formation work and basic lifting; this class is a fun way to dance and stay fit!

Mixed-Age Roller-Skating Jazz (Squirts Plus/Freckles/Stars)

This cool class combines two things this age group love - rollerskating and jazz dancing! Not only do students learn to skate in the class by practicing balances, zig zagging around obstacle courses and under limbos, they also learn jazz routines without skates on to improve their dance technique and then finally learn how to combine both - dance on wheels!
